Sorry for those of you expecting a nail polish related post, but I wanted to share a service near and dear to my heart (okay that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it saved my face)! This service is called Pocketderm. Pocketderm provides you with online access to a dermatologist. This dermatologist will consult with you through photographs and some medical background provided by the customer. Then, your Pocketderm dermatologist will create a custom prescription lotion to apply to your face once a day.
Quite the different a few months can make! I started this service back in July 16th. The original photos that I sent in can be seen below:
Acne EVERYWHERE. I've been struggling with acne since the age of 13. I've tried a lot of treatments in the past, including a 6-month stint with Accutane. Sadly, that was only a temporary treatment and my acne came back within the year.
These pictures are from August 23rd. At this point, I had almost given up on Pocketderm. My dermatologist and I had been working together for a while on refining my skincare routine. I explained to him how discouraged I was with the lack of results. He encouraged me to hold on for a bit longer, and I'm so glad that I did because here is my skin now...!
So much better! My skin is far from perfect, but compared to where it used to be...I couldn't be happier. Now that I've let the pictures do the talking, let's get down to the nitty gritty details about Pocketderm.Pocketderm is $20/month. This $20 covers the cost of medication, shipping, and unlimited online consultations with your dermatologist. These consultations are in the form of an online chat with your dermatologist. You can ask them about anything skin care related. For example, I chat with my dermatologist every time I'm thinking about adding a new product to my routine or when I need a product recommendation. This is extremely convenient and relatively cheap (considering the prices of other prescription creams)! On that note, my medication contains not one, but three actives mixed into one easy to apply lotion. My formulation includes:
8% azelaic acid
1% clindamycin
0.018% tretinoin
The price of these three prescriptions alone, let alone the price of visiting the dermatologist far exceeds the $20/month charged by Pocketderm. Let's not even mention all the time you save not having to schedule or go to the dermatologist's office...
If anyone is interested in trying this incredible service, you can use my referral link to get your first month free! So go ahead and try it out - cancel if you don't like it or don't think it's worth the cost. And if anyone is worrying less about acne and more about anti-aging, Pocketderm also has an anti-aging service that works similarly (though I personally have no experience with it, but I bet it's equally amazing)!
